Mercedes-Benz EQS Orders Open: 450+ And 580 4MATIC To Feature OTA Functions?
Mercedes-EQ has announced sales for two of their models, which are the first all-electric luxury saloon from the brand. As the first model based on the Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, the EQS boasts extensive technology, functionality, connectivity and design.
Available on sale is the EQS 450+ and the EQS 580 4MATIC, which will both be the first Mercedes-Benz to offer the option of over-the-air (OTA) functionality in numerous areas. The EQS has similar body shapes and design features to the S-Class saloon, as the name suggests. It rides on a low and extended profile, holding the world record for aerodynamics, with the first car in the world to have a Cd (drag coefficient) value starting from 0.20.
Three exterior trims would be available: a standard exterior, an AMG Line exterior as well as an Electric Art Exterior. Additionally, a limited Edition 1 will also be offered, which features the AMG Line and 21-inch wheels for the exterior and special colour scheme for the interior.
The interior spots eight colour coordinated trim schemes, with digital graphics presented in a blue/orange colourway throughout. A major highlight would be the MBUX Hyperscreen display: measuring at 141 centimetres wide alongside a 12.3-inch instrument display, 17.7-inch central OLED touch screen and another 12.3-inch OLED screen for the front passenger. Note that this feature does not come as standard, with an additional charge of around €8,600 (RM37,705).
The second-row passengers are two 11.6-inch displays and a rear tablet, which can be used outside of the vehicle. In terms of audio, a 15-speaker, 710-watt Burmester sound system is installed with two soundscapes options available.
Other highlights include the rear-axle steering, the INTELLIGENT PARK PILOT as well as the ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL Plus, which offers extensive convenience and comfort during driving journeys.
Performance-wise, the former model produces 245 kW of power with a century sprint of 6.2 seconds, and the latter powers up 385 kW of power with a lead in the century sprint with 4.3 seconds. Note that both vehicles seem to have the same top speed of approximately 210 km/h.
New in the Mercedes me Store is the OTA functions activation; The launch offers a range of options, including a customisation package, two special driving modes as well as a ‘highlight mode’ that also offers a voice assistant. Nevertheless, the range of these OTA functions can be expanded, allowing complete control of what the driver wants and vice versa in their vehicle.
Four bundle packages will be up for grabs: the Advanced, Advanced Plus, Premium and Premium Plus, which range from €2082 (RM10,230) to €14,994 (RM73,979). The EQS 450+ will be on sale starting from €106.374.10 while the ESQ 580 4MATIC goes up from €135,529.10 respectively.
