Mazda BT-50 And New Kia Carnival Will Be Previewed On The 3rd To 5th At SACC - Bookings Will Be Officially Opened From The 3rd December 2021 Onwards.
Bermaz Auto Bhd (BAuto) has opened bookings for two exclusive all-new models, the Mazda BT-50 and the Kia Carnival and will be previewed at an event starting this Friday.
The All-new Kia Carnival features a more innovative, flexible and stylish design to appeal to progressive young families. We can see the resemblance of a “tiger face” on this new Carnival to give this vehicle a more futuristic look, especially with its iconic ‘tiger-nose’ grille.
At the rear, the Carnival uses full-width lines to emphasise the car’s sense of solidity. These lines include the sleek combination lamps, which echo the exact details as the DRLs at the front of the car, integrated into a full-width light.
Interior-wise, there’s the centre fascia takes on a premium image with high-gloss black surfaces. A chrome garnish runs the length of the dash to create a sense of space and openness in the forward cabin. Integrated slim metal air vents are a modern touch.
The new MPV offers plenty of space for 11-passenger flexibility with special and innovative features to make travel more enjoyable. These features include Smart Power Sliding doors and Smart Power Liftgate, Smart Key with one-button open/close functionality for rear sliding doors and liftgate. Other standard interior features include a class-leading 12.3-inch High-resolution LCD Touchscreen Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone charging and multi-Bluetooth connectivity and up to seven USB ports.
In terms of the vehicle body structure, the all-new Kia Carnival is built based on the all-new 3rd generation “N3” platform.
Getting to safety, the Kia Carnival comes with a host of standard safety and advanced safety features. Standard safety technologies in the all-new Carnival includes 7 SRS Airbags (Front Driver & Passenger, Driver Knee, Side and Curtain), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Multi-Collision Brake Control (MCB), ISOFIX Child Restraint Anchor Points and Top Tethers as well as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).
The Kia Carnival comes equipped with Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA). The RCCA system helps detect most approaching cross-traffic and will alert the driver.
The all-new Carnival comes with a 2.2-litre Turbo Diesel Engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, controlled by an electronic shifter. The 2.2-litre engine produces 199 hp at 3,800 RPM and 440 Nm of torque from just 1,750 – 2,750 RPM. It offers smooth, linear acceleration and a premium performance driving feel.-full.jpg)
Currently, the All-New Kia Carnival is fully-imported from South Korea. The colour line-up includes Astra Blue, Silky Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, Snow White Pearl, Panthera Metal and Flare Red, making a total of 6 colours available.
Prices for the All-New Kia Carnival will be announced at a later date. The vehicle is now officially open for booking and comes with a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance according to manufacturer’s standards, inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
Meanwhile, for the BT-50, 1.9L High AT goes for RM124,179.20, while the 3.0L High Plus AT retails at RM143,218.40.
1.9L variants being powered by an RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel making 148 hp (150 PS) at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 2,600 rpm.
Meanwhile, the range-topper gets Isuzu’s updated 4JJ3-TCX 3.0 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel that serves up 188 hp (190 PS) at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm from 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. Four-wheel drive is standard across the board.
In terms of equipment, the 1.9L Single Cab MT comes with 16-inch steelies, LED headlamps and front fog lamps, bulb-type DRLs and rear fog lamp, automatic wipers, a 3.5-inch monochrome instrument cluster display, a basic head unit with two speakers, manual air-conditioning, manual seats, fabric upholstery, a 4WD transfer dial, a rear differential lock, two airbags, ESC, traction control, Hill Launch Assist, ABS, EBD and brake assist.

Stepping up from the workhorse variant to the first of the double cabs, the 1.9L Mid MT and AT gain 17-inch alloys, keyless engine start, powered side mirrors with indicators, rear parking sensors, a 4.2-inch TFT-LCD coloured multi-info display, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and six speakers, rear air vents, a reverse camera, Isofix child seat anchors, passive cruise control as well as blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
The 1.9L High AT builds upon the Mid variants by adding auto-levelling bi-LED headlamps, LED DRLs, keyless entry, front parking sensors, roof rails (100 kg limit), side steps, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, eight-way powered front seat, five more airbags for a total of seven and hill descent control.
At the top, the 3.0L High Plus AT gets all the 1.9L High AT’s features, but with the addition of 18-inch alloys, a remote engine start function, two more speakers for a total of eight and brown leather upholstery. More importantly, the range-topper gets a more comprehensive suite of safety and driver assists, including multi-collision brake, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.
The BT-50 comes in five colours, including Rock Grey Mica, Gunblue Mica, Ice White, Red Volcano Mica and True Black Mica.
Both the all-new Mazda BT-50 and Kia Carnival will be previewed in the upcoming Carlist.my ‘Drive’ Auto Fair takes place from December 3 to December 5, at Setia City Convention Centre.
