Thousands Of Cars Stranded Due To Traffic Congestion
Traffic congestion had occurred when thousands of cars were reported stranded due to heavy rain and flash floods on several major routes yesterday.
The heavy rain has continued since 5 pm yesterday, causing the roads in both directions (Sungai Besi - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) – Sungai Besi) to be flooded.
The situation has caused all southbound lanes and northbound right lanes to be blocked, causing quite severe traffic congestion.
The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has confirmed the incident on Twitter.
Besides Sungai Besi Area, road users around Jalan Klang Lama, Jalan Genting Klang, Jalan Istana, Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Kuching were also stranded due to the flash floods incident.
Another similar case has also been reported in front of Astro towards the Horse Racing Circle.
The traffic condition worsened as a fallen tree at Bukit Jalil Highway from the Horse Racing Roundabout heading to Technology Park Malaysia (TPM)
Therefore, road users took hours to pass through the area where only the right lane is open. There are no accidents reported as of today.
