One Million Vehicles Entering In, Out KL Due To Raya Season - PDRM

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) recently said in a statement that almost one million vehicles are reported to enter and exit the capital city Kuala Lumpur on a daily basis, according to Harian Metro.

This is solely due to Raya Season that is just around the corner which floods the KL area with drivers coming from other states to come and berbuka puasa with their family members.

"The number of vehicles is expected to continue to increase on Saturday (April 8) because of the holiday weekend when people will flood the city centre to shop for Eid needs," said Kuala Lumpur Acting Police Chief, Datuk Yahaya Othman.

It’s quite common when people decide to shop around KL city as Malaysians who celebrate Raya need to prepare early to avoid last-minute shopping otherwise it could ruin their whole plan for this once a year festive season.

However, due to that, it will also contribute to traffic jams especially during rush hours while other people are leaving from their workplace to home.

To avoid traffic congestion, the public are also encouraged to utilise the public transport facilities provided to reduce traffic congestion.

Also, do take note that due to the upcoming Raya season, it’s best to obey the traffic rules otherwise legal actions will be pursued.

"Appropriate action will be taken against vehicles that fail to comply with traffic rules where in addition to summons, the police will also tow vehicles that block traffic to avoid congestion’’ he highlighted’’ the officer added.’’.
