Demonstrating Its Expertise In Electrification, DS Automobiles Presents The New DS 9

DS Automobiles’ utmost sophisticated, elegant and classy saloon, the DS 9 now beats with two new electric powertrains, a hybrid petrol and plug-in.
These two new power units are available in Performance Line + and Rivoli + specifications, characterised by high-quality materials synonymous with the brand’s superior expertise.
First and foremost, the DS 9 E-Tense 4x4 360, which boasts up to 360 hp and has an all-wheel-drive system.

Tuned by DS Performance which won every Formula E title in 2019 and 2020, development of its power unit and suspension have resulted in outstanding performance.
Specifically, the DS 9 E-Tense 4x4 360 uses special front and rear axles with a wider track, and the braking system has been upgraded with four-piston callipers for better power distribution.
In detail, the latter sports 380 x 32 mm discs at the front, which is up by 50 x 2 mm compared with the DS 9 E-Tense 225, and 290 x 12 mm at the rear.

Akin to the championship winning Formula E single seater, the mechanical braking effort is only supplied if required after energy recovery.
Furthermore, the shock absorbers, springs and anti-roll bar are unique, as is the power unit’s mapping.
Offered as standard for both specs, the DS Active Scan Suspension capitalizes on the latest DS suspension which blends the comfort of a large saloon with the dynamism of a Grand Touring coupe.

Engine-wise, it combines a 4-cylinder 200 hp mill and two electric motors. One 110 hp integrated with the gearbox at the front and the other 113 hp linked to the rear axle.
Said system is aided by an intelligent four-wheel-drive transmission, and its 11.9 kWh battery features advanced management to save energy.
Combustion-wise, in zero emissions mode, the DS 9 E-Tense 4x4 360 covers 52 km on the WLTP urban cycle and 47 km on the WLTP combined cycle.

Then, the fuel consumption is restricted to 1.8 litre per 100 km with homologated CO2 emissions of 41 g/km on the WLTP cycle.
The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, with the capability of reaching 140 km/h using electric power alone. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.6 seconds.
Paired to all of that is exclusive 20-inch Munich alloy wheels and its DS Performance branded brake callipers.

To top it all off, the DS 9 E-Tense 4x4 360 has special badges in DS Performance colours at the front and on the tailgate.
Next is the DS 9 E-Tense 250. It features a 4-cylinder 200 hp PureTech engine, linked to an 80 kW (110 hp) electric motor.
Its new 15.6 kWh battery enables a range of up to 70 km on the WLTP urban cycle and 61 km on the WLTP combined cycle.

Charging-wise, the DS 9 E-Tense 250’s on-board 7.4 kW charger enables 0 to 100 percent charging in approximately 2 hours 23 minutes.
Unlike the first setup, this mill has a homologated fuel consumption of 1.1-litre per 100 km on the WLTP combined cycle and CO2 emissions of only 26 g/km.
As for the top speed, it is electronically limited to 240 km/h, with the capability of reaching 135 km/h using electric power alone. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.1 seconds.

Pricing-wise, offered in France, the DS 9 E-Tense 4x4 360 Performance Line + tags at EUR 67,500 (RM 311,341) and the Rivoli + specification at EUR 70,400 (RM 324,718).
Whereas for the DS 9 E-Tense 250, the Performance Line + specification tags at EUR 58,000 (RM 267,541) and the DS Rivoli + at EUR 60,900 (RM 280,922).
All in all, after winning four Formula E teams’ and drivers’ titles, DS Automobiles continues to demonstrate its expertise in electrification, which is evident in these two models.
