60 Percent More Cost-Efficient, The Eco-Friendly Air Suspension Wheel

Rolling into the future of sustainability, Global Air Cylinder Wheels (GACW), an Arizonian-based startup, has innovatively reinvented the wheel.
Environmentally friendly and cost-efficient, the new type of wheel developed eliminates the need for pollutive rubber tires, claimed the company.
Dubbed the Air Suspension Wheel (ASW), it is the creation of serial inventor and structural dynamic engineer Dr. Zoltan Kemeny.
Interestingly, the ASW is a mechanical wheel built mostly of steel with in-wheel pneumatic suspension through cylinders.

It is made to have the same lifespan as the vehicle it’s mounted on, and different from rubber tires, it can be reconditioned or 100 percent recycled.
Also, unlike other Off-The-Road (OTR) rubber tires, which is a major safety hazard, i.e., explode, with the ASW, overheated tires and explosions are no longer a concern.
Plus, OTR rubber tires used in the mining industry are extremely pollutive, as they are not recyclable at the end of their lifespan.
Additionally, besides the mining industry, the ASW can be applied to all vehicles that are currently using conventional rubber tires.

Mostly in part of its greatly reduced rolling resistance, which will make combustion engines more efficient and reduce emission gasses.
Whereas, for electric cars, take Tesla for example, it could significantly extend the driving range by up to 30 percent on the same battery.
Global Air Cylinder Wheels (GACW) stated, “Our Air Suspension Wheels are an effective and viable option to rubber tires. They are up to 60 percent more cost-efficient, safer and better for the environment than rubber tires.”
At the moment, the company is testing its ASW products with several mining partners, an evaluation period of between 6 and 12 months is expected.

Starting from this year, it aims to increase production of the ASW product with full commercialization projected in 2023.
As such, other companies e.g., Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo and Komatsu could all end up as partners or even clients in GACW’s future.
GACW concluded, “At this point, our plan is to expand our distribution network and really start taking the tire industry by storm.”
