Project Sibu Road to Airport Will be Revived

The road from Sibu town to the airport project will be revived as according to Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) original planning,

According to Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that originally it was in the planning but canceled during the change of Federal Government.

“Hence, the plan is meant to be launch soon yet the concept now is different from the previous original plan where it is much higher than before.

This also involved a two -way two -lane road that required an upgrade process to be in line with the standards of the new LPB development plan, " he said during his brief speech at FTRoadPedia KKR 2022 programme. 

This matter was raised by Bukit Assek State Assemblyman (ADUN), Chieng Jin Ek and Nangka ADUN, Dr Annuar Rapaee for the Ministry of Works (KKR) to take note of the issue.

“YB Bukit Assek (Chieng) and Dr Anuar have asked us to upgrade the Sibu town road to the airport because the road is still undulating.

“In the Sibu area, there is a wetland structure so anything we do will be challenging hence we are thinking of ways with the use of new technology.

"We (KKR) hope that it can solve the problem, especially in the area of Sibu, Sarikei including Selangau and areas that have a swampy geographical structure," he explained.

According to him, it is part of the plan under Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) located in the central region of Sarawak.
