RENNtech R3 Package: Making The Superfast Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Even Faster
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is one of Merc’s pinnacle performing machines, and RENNtech, a Florida-based Mercedes tuning company has come up with their own iteration.
To begin with, the AMG GT Black Series is one of the most extreme road cars to ever roam out there. It packs 720 hp from a twin-turbo V8 married to a ludicrous amount of functional aero pieces.
Though, for RENNtech, that just doesn’t do it. As they have released an R3 upgrade package for the AMG GT Black Series that will boost up its power significantly.
Said package advances the speed machine’s flat-plane crank 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with stainless steel downpipes, a blow-off-valve adapter, new air filters and new turbos.
All of those elements juice up the Black Series’ output to 1,066 hp and 1,127 Nm of torque, which is an increase of 346 hp and 327 Nm from its standard form.
On top of that, to handle the extra power, there are also upgrades to the clutches, plus ECU tune-ups for the engine and gearbox.
According to RENNtech, its upgraded GT Black Series can blitz from 0 to 97 km/h in just under three seconds, while reaching a top speed of 352 km/h (219 mph).
Elsewhere, aesthetic changes to the car include a set of forged wheels, carbon fiber fender extractors and a carbon fiber bumperette delete.
Last but not least, also comes with the package is a new roll bar in the cabin that can be fitted with either Sabelt or Schroth harnesses.
In short, though the price tag has not been disclosed, RENNtech claimed the R3 package is already available through its dealers in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
