Tesla Registers New Radar System, Baffling The Masses Following Contradicting Old Claims

Elon Musk stated before that Tesla plans to achieve self-driving only with a camera, now, the EV giant is baffling the masses having applied for a new radar system in its electric vehicles.
Tesla’s transition to its ‘Tesla Vision’ system eliminates radar entirely and uses only cameras and neural nets, conversely, after years of using a suite of sensors consisting of cameras and a radar.
The EV giant has actually registered with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to use the new radar in its vehicles.

Notably, the notion is based on the fact that the road system is designed to function for human drivers who operate vehicles using their vision (eyes) and their brain (neural nets).
As such, Tesla believes it could build a system safer than human drivers by substituting eyes with cameras and the brain by its silicon-powered neural nets.
Tesla’s co-founder and chief executive officer, Elon Musk, expressed, “The probability of safety will be higher with pure vision than vision plus radar, not lower. Vision has become so good that radar actually reduces signal and noise.”

Said move has some Tesla owners who bought Tesla’s Full Self-Driving worried that their vision-based system is now not going to be enough if Tesla decides to add new hardware.
Furthermore, since 2016, Tesla has claimed that all its units produced are equipped with all the necessities required for self-driving capability in the future through software updates.
Unfortunately, it turns out that the claim is not true as apparently Tesla needed to upgrade the onboard computer.

In short, now, the company is also concerned about some of the older cameras inside the vehicles, and as per explained, a new radar might be added to the list.
