Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV fleeted as taxis in Japan
Hyundai Mobility Japan announced plan to supply its award-winning Hyundai IONIQ 5 in 'Lounge' specification to the MK Group in Kyoto.
MK is on track to electrify 30 percent of its fleet by 2025 and 100 percent by 2030 by implementing 50 IONIQ 5 Lounge units.

Since the start of the year, the group has discontinued the use of liquefied petroleum gas-powered cars in favour of 18 battery electric vehicles and ten plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. To meet this shift, the company will also construct fast charging stations at each of its cab business locations.
This specific specification makes excellent use of the E-GMP platform's range, since it is a 2WD variant with a 72.6kWh battery pack that returns 618km per full charge. It can also be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 18 minutes using the fastest available DC power.
Hyundai Mobility Japan will also collaborate with MK's Kyoto maintenance facility to provide technology assistance, allowing the partner firm to manage the fleet effectively along fighting against climate change.
