Mercedes-Benz’s Vitoria Plant To Receive EUR 1.2 Billion Investment

The German auto giant Mercedes-Benz is set to invest EUR 1.2 billion (RM 5,476,356,900) in its Northern Spain’s Vitoria plant.

According to Reuters, the unions UGT and CCOO said the move was confirmed after workers at the plant agreed on a new labor agreement.

Specifically, 57 percent out of the plant’s 5,000 workers have voted in favor of the deal that defines working conditions and pay raises until 2026.

Of which, also enables the automaker to invest in the production of new models and electric vehicles, affirming a claim Mercedes once made. 

Notably, one where it expects to assemble 158,000 vehicles in Vitoria, its second largest van assembly plant, in 2022 and plans to increase output in the coming years.
