1000 Units of EV Technology Will Be Made Available to Malaysians
The Malaysian government has announced 1000 electric vehicles (EV) will be used as a tool to achieve its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral nation by the year 2050 through a joint venture between Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Mysuri Biz Technologies.
To support the country's EV development, he believes that the involvement of government-linked companies (GLCs) such as TNB should be increased.
Mysuri Biz Technologies which is located in Cyberjaya develops mobile technology, systems, and applications on top of having a business that previously created a vehicle application, TeksiKu.
Referring to TeksiKu ad that discovered by paultan.org first implied a second-gen BYD e6 highlighted as a taxi example, indicates that the all-electric MPV has a travel range of up to 522 km could be the unit of choice for the programme.
During the fifth International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2022 in KLCC recently, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also stated that government is approving the allocation and redistribution of a 1,200MW renewable energy (RE) quota for solar resources as an initial step to strengthen the country's commitment to the energy transition.
A new option for the procurement of green electricity supply to corporate companies will be made available through the concept of the Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) which carries a 600MW quota offer to create 14,000 job opportunities and new investments worth RM6 billion altogether to support the development of the country's RE industry.
"The new quota will be distributed to the implementation of existing mechanisms such as the New Enhanced Dispatch Arrangement (NEDA) and solar installation programmes on building roofs," he explained.
Aside from that, the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure development guidelines under the Electricity Supply Act 1990 (Act 447) will be enforced in the fourth quarter of 2022 (4Q22).
The summit was organized by the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry and Malaysia's Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) which had the theme "Empowering Energy Transition’’.
