Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) introduced a new special and limited-run variant of its staple second generation Triton pick-up truck offering today. Dubbed the Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition, it sports a myriad of premium features plus a striking exterior treatment.

Like all its dual-cab stablemates, this iteration of the Triton comes powered by the Japanese automaker’s current-gen 2.4-litte MIVEC turbo-diesel 4-cyl mill that outputs 181 HP and 430 NM. This gets mated with a 6-speed automatic box exclusively, as well as Mitsubishi’s Easy Select 4WD driveline that’s also brimmed with Hill Descent Control HDC).

Setting this special apart from other Triton variants, the Phantom Plus Edition gets a distinct exterior makeover featuring a more aggressive bodykit, red accents in the front and rear bumpers, roof-mounted LED auxiliary lights, flared wheel arches, ‘Phantom’ decals and tailgate moulding, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black that are wrapped on all-terrain tyres.

Capping things off for this special edition’s exterior is its exclusive Jet Black Mica paint.

On board, the exterior’s black with red accents motif continues in the cabin as well, namely with the leatherette seat covers and carpets. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit is present, and it offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also standard-equipped in this special is a forward dashcam (Driving Video Recorder).

In terms of safety, this variant of the Triton gets lined with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, stability (ASC) and traction (TCS) control systems, hill-start assists (HSA), trailer stability assist (TSA), as well as a novel ‘Rest Reminder’ that helps drivers stay alert at the wheel better.

If you’re already digging this pick-up truck’s looks and specs, then you’d best hurry and place your bookings now as the Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition is limited to just 1,000 units nationwide.

In terms of pricing, each unit commands RM139,700 (P. Malaysia), RM141,700 (Sabah), and RM141,750 (Sarawak) on-the-road excluding insurance cost. Included in said prices is MMM’s usual 5-year or 200,000KM warranty coverage.

What do you folks think of this latest limited-run special of Mitsubishi’s staple pick-up truck offering, then? Ready to tackle the rough in style?
