The Koenigsegg CC850 is a 1,363 hp throwback

Koenigsegg also took centre stage late last week during the Monterrey Car Week event, unveiling a ‘throwback’ to its original first creation the CC8S. Christened as the CC850, it also boasts a whopping 1,363 hp output plus a manual transmission.
The CC850’s timely debut celebrates two milestones. The first, of course, is the 20th anniversary since the original CC8S was first delivered, and secondly as a ‘gift’ to commemorate founder Christian von Koenigsegg’s 50th birthday.

“The CC850 was not created to break Jesko’s track records or set new high watermarks for top speed, but to offer the highest level of driver satisfaction and enjoyment with the exhilarating performance for which Koenigsegg is renowned,” said Christian about the CC850.
On the surface, the CC850’s design is clearly a homage to the CC8S. This is evident through the sleek, simple lines, the telephone-dial wheels it rolls on, as well as the triple taillights layout.
Constructed upon the Jesko’s carbon fibre monocoque chassis, the CC850 also harnesses double wishbone suspension front and back, with adjustable dampers plus Koenigsegg’s unique Triplex rear damper that’s designed to mitigate front-end lift during hard acceleration.
As for power, the CC850 also borrows the Jesko’s 5.-litre twin-turbo V8 that outputs 1,169 hp. Feed it with E85 fuel and the mill generates the full-fat 1,363 hp plus a physics-bending 1,383 Nm of twist.

Now for the kicker: the ‘Light Speed Transmission’ the mill is paired with. Depending on which of the three drive modes – Normal, Wet, and Track – is engaged, drivers can opt to row six-gears manually – complete with clutch pedal! – or slot the lever right down and across to engage a nine-speed automatic.
As for performance, Koenigsegg hasn’t revealed any data and figures just yet, but Koenigsegg have made it clear that the primary aim of the CC850 is to create the ultimate driving machine over a speed record-chaser as what its current hypercar models are.
Koenigsegg will build just 50 units of the CC850 – one to mark each year since Christian’s birth – and, naturally, all 50 are already spoken for according to the Swedish hapercar builder. No price figure was stated either but Koenigsegg did confirm that the first prototype of the CC850 will go to Christian himself.
