Fancy A Drive From Malaysia to Indonesia? Soon You Can
Bridge and tunnel will be built connecting Telok Gong with Dumai.
“One Belt One Road”, would be the concept the new link between Malaysia and Indonesia will be built on. The link would be built from Telok Gong in Masjid Tanah, Melaka to Dumai in Sumatra spanning a distance of 120km.
This massive project would be jointly handled with involvement from private sector companies would involve constructions of tunnels and bridges taking 20 years to complete announced Melaka Investment, Industry, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh during an interview on “Apa Khabar YB” with MelakaFM.
Ab Rauf further added that the proposal for the project has been submitted by the private sector, and both countries have in principle agreed to a detailed study of the matter. All government agencies involved have been briefed via site visit to the areas involved to ensure better understanding of all parties.
The Malaysia – Indonesia link would benefit Melaka’s economic growth with the opening of a new town at Masjid Tanah. An area spanning 2023 hectares would be developed in stages housing various industrial zones. This project would involve the construction of various infrastructure including traffic dispersal areas and the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex.
