Get Your Tyres Changed Now To Avoid 10-15% Price Increment In October!

Tyre prices are set to go up by 10-15% across the board in October.
Tyre prices are set to go up once again this year. Yes you heard right, the third price hike is set to happen come October 2022. This was reported recently by Kosmo who picked the scoop up from tyre dealers. We have seen automotive spare parts, tyres, engine oil, and lubricating oil increase by 10% to 15%.
According to the dealer Kosmo spoke to, Maxipura Continental Tire & Services operations manager Amat Fauzan Amat Rohim, they have received impending price increase notice from tyre suppliers set to take effect in October.
One of the main reasons for the price hike is the increase in raw materials prices associated with tyre production, specifically “carbon black” which mostly originates from Russia which is going through war conflict. Russia's annual exports of the material accounts to over 700,000 tons for the world's consumption according to Applerubber.

Amat Fauzan goes on to add that the tyre price increment would be in the range of RM20 to RM30 per piece for all imported and local brands. The multiple upward price adjustment this year see’s a drop in demand for UHP (Ultra High Performance) tyres where the 70% of the M40 and T20 opting for more budget options for their luxury and high performance vehicles.
Furthermore Amat Fauzan says that nowadays drivers tend to maximise usage of their tyres where some only opt to change tyres when it is completely bald and undriveable.
To combat this, his company has taken the measures to offer wider options to consumers with offerings from reputable local and Chinese brands which is far cheaper in hopes that users do not continue to use bald unsafe tyres.

Caricarz would advise those whose tyres are about due for a change to not delay and make the swap this month to avoid paying extra. Furthermore vehicle users need to be smart and learn the proper tyre upkeep methods to prolong its life. Do make sure your tyres are properly inflated regularly and all tyre alignments set properly to ensure an even tyre wear.
You are also advised to perform tyre check and rotation for a longer and safer driver. Tyre rotation is advised to be performed every 10,000km for passenger cars and 6,000km for 4x4 vehicles.

More importantly, with the continuous rainfall season expected mid next month onwards, drivers need to ensure their vehicle tyres are in the best of conditions as tyres are the only component that supports your vehicle load and your driving pattern with the road. Bald or hardened old tyres have a higher tendency to break traction or aquaplan on rainy wet surfaces.
