LEKAS Highway Illegal Race, 10 Arrested 6 Vehicles Seized!

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department launched “Operasi Khas Samseng Jalanan” in the wee hours of 15th September to clamp down on illegal racing activities at LEKAS Highway. The location was identified based on a public and intelligence report received.
Result of the operation saw 10 vehicles and 10 individuals investigated for being present at the scene according to Mohd Zaid Hassan, Kajang District Police Chief. From that two individuals were arrested for organising while five for participating in the reckless and dangerous racing. A total of six vehicles were also confiscated.
All those arrested were aged between 21 and 42, and vehicles were taken to the Kajang Police Headquarters for further investigation. Mohd Zaid also added that the two individuals suspected for organising the race were also involved in betting activity will be investigated under the Section 81(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while the other five caught for racing under Section 42(1).

The six vehicles confiscated were a Nissan GTR35, a BMW E92, a Mercedes Benz A45 AMG, a Toyota Vellfire and two Hondas (Jazz and EK). The vehicles would be held in accordance with Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for investigation purposes. (Video of the race between the Nissan GTR35 and Mercedes A45 AMG can be seen below)
Mohd Zaid Hassan stressed that PDRM’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department is serious in clamping down all illegal racing and dangerous driving activities that pose serious risk to other road users. Public is also advised to be the police's eyes and ears to report such activities in order to keep roads safe for everyone.
