2023 Ford Ranger Raptor Launched In Malaysia, Priced At MYR 259,888

2023 Ford Ranger Raptor Launched In Malaysia
The wait is over off-road junkies! The four-wheeled monster is finally here as Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) has officially launched the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor in Malaysia.
Imbued with Ford Performance DNA, the second-gen Ranger Raptor blends raw power with mechanical and technical precision, offering the most advanced technology in a Ranger thus far.
Ford Asia Pacific Distributor Markets’ managing director, DJ Simpson, expressed, “We’ve focused on delivering a genuine performance vehicle with the next-gen Ranger Raptor that customers can enjoy straight off the assembly line without modifications. It is significantly faster, looks incredible and is packed with new features and more extreme capability than before.”

Dissecting the beast, at its heart lies a new twin-turbo 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine that pumps up to 392 Hp at 5,650 rpm and 583 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm.
It gets paired to Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission with gear ratios that have been specifically tuned, making it run almost twice as fast as its predecessor.
Plus, its new race-bred anti-lag system keeps the turbochargers spinning for up to three seconds after laying off the throttle.

This enables a faster reacceleration out of corners or between gears, upon flooring the pedal again. Though, this setup is only available under the Baja mode.
Besides that, the new engine has a compacted graphite-iron cylinder block, which is about 75% stronger and stiffer than the iron used in conventional castings.
Next, its chassis and suspension fuse the new Ford Performance tuned, FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shock absorbers and race-proven Bottom-Out Control technologies.

In detail, the upgraded chassis gets a series of mounts and supports to the C-pillar, cargo bed, spare wheel, unique frames to the jounce bumper, shock tower and rear shock bracket.
Meanwhile, the suspension gets a stronger yet lightweight aluminium upper and lower control arms, long travel front and rear suspension, and a refined Watt’s link rear end.
Notably, the shock absorbers are filled with Teflon-infused oil that reduces friction by 50%, and is the most advanced system on a Ranger Raptor ever.

Outstandingly, its position-sensitive damping capability can predict suspension movement based on driving style and terrain, altering the damping in real time.
Then, for a better centre of gravity, the FOX Bottom-Out Control provides maximum driving force in the last 25% of shock travel.
Similarly, the system can stiffen the rear end dampers to prevent the beast from squatting under hard acceleration, thus enhancing stability.
Furthermore, the beast’s 4x4 electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system has also been upgraded to better aid its all-terrain prowess.

2023 Ford Ranger Raptor, Performance
Equipped is an all-new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case that features four settings, 2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD High and 4WD Low.
What’s more, the updated Terrain Management system now has seven drive modes, Normal, Sport, Slippery for on-road driving and Rock Crawl, Sand, Mud/Ruts and Baja for high-speed off-roading.
Other than that, the powertrain comes with an all-new class-exclusive active exhaust system that amplifies the engine performance and changes the engine sound.

2023 Ford Ranger Raptor, Exterior
Design-wise, the beast comes with an all-new exterior hide. Standout features are the flared wheel arches that exude its width, and bold ‘F-O-R-D’ script on the grille that gets a detached bumper.
Accentuating those are functional vents, aero fittings, a rear bumper that angles up, Ford Performance scuff plates, new aluminium-casted side steps and LED lights.
Speaking of which, the front features C-clamp LED DRLs, and Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic bending lights, glare-free high-beams and auto dynamic levelling.

Complementing its 265 mm ground clearance is a set of thick and muscular 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 rubbers.
Overall, its hide can be cloaked in five colour options. Namely, new Code Orange, plus Absolute Black, Arctic White, Blue Lightning and Conquer Grey.
Diving into the beast’s belly, featured is an all-Ebony interior with Code Orange highlights and all-new, jet-fighter inspired sports leather seats.

For the latter, it comes with a 10-way auto adjustable configuration for the driver and 10-way manual for the passenger.
Elsewhere, the cabin gets a leather sports steering wheel with magnesium-casted paddle shifters, leather gear knob with e-shifter, and Amber ambient lighting.
Technology-wise, installed is a high-res 12.4-inch TFT cluster display, and a 12-inch centre touchscreen that supports Ford’s SYNC 4A infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems.

Adding to all of that is a Bang & Olufsen eight-speaker sound system, four USB charging ports, a wireless Qi charger and 360-degree camera.
An off-road beast needs its safety too, as such it has been fitted with a whole suite of active and advanced driver assistance systems.
E.g., Adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering, blind spot information system (BLIS), high beam, reverse brake and evasive steer assists, and rear-cross traffic alert.

2023 Ford Ranger Raptor, ADAS
Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford’s managing director, Turse Zuhair, concluded, “Built to dominate in the wilderness, master the mountains and rule everywhere in between, the Ranger Raptor is the ultimate performance variant of the next-gen Ranger. Its pure acceleration, power and capabilities are sure to blow drivers away and leave them grinning from ear-to-ear.”
All things considered, pricing for the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor tags at MYR 259,888 (on-the-road, without insurance), with a five-year manufacturer warranty or 160,000 km, whichever comes first.
Alternatively, a two-year extended warranty with PremiumCare that offers a range of coverage is also available.
