BMW Malaysia Partners JomCharge - Owners Have Access To Over 550 EV Chargers Now!
The goal of an all around Premium Electric Ownership Experience is what BMW Group Malaysia is striving to fulfil for its customers. This is evident from their latest BMW Charging partnership with a local electric vehicle (EV) charging provider – JomCharge.
According to Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at BMW Group Malaysia, “An integral part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the electromobility landscape in Malaysia are our strategic partnerships with industry leaders in the charging infrastructure for EVs such as JomCharge as well as ChargEV and Tenaga Nasional Berhad in the coming months. With our shared goals and diversified expertise, we are bringing more key infrastructure and access to these charging platforms to our ever-growing community of existing and potential EV owners here.”
Meanwhile, Ir. Lee Yuen How, Managing Director of EV Connection adds on, “As the operator of the JomCharge network in Malaysia, our goal is to promote greater Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) adoption in Malaysia by offering transformative, customer-centric infrastructure – which is exemplified through our extensive public charging network. This partnership with BMW – a leading premium EV automaker here, enables us to meet our ZEV adoption goals by working together to instil greater confidence amongst the public in our local electromobility ecosystem.”
BMW Charging, in collaboration with JomCharge, provides easy access to more than 100 charging stations strategically located throughout the city centre and national highways, alleviating range anxiety and providing BMW EV owners with peace of mind on every journey. The network includes infrastructure owned by Gentari, Petronas' Green Mobility and Clean Energy division.
To round out the Premium Electric Ownership Experience, all new and existing BMW EV owners can sign up for the BMW Charging package. This one-year non-renewable subscription costs RM640 and includes complimentary JomCharge credits worth RM160, for a total package value of RM800. Customers who register will be able to use this package as a pay-per-use service for a year, with an additional 10% discount on each charging transaction.
To date, BMW Group Malaysia has provided BMW and MINI EV owners with access to over 550 charging facilities nationwide, primarily powered by industry partners such as JomCharge, which has over 65 charging stations, Gentari, which has approximately 50 charging stations, and ChargEV, which has over 330 charging stations - including the 26 charging facilities powered by ChargEV and Yinson GreenTech at 17 Starbucks locations in Klang Valley, Penang, Malacca, and Johor. Over 80 BMW i charging stations are also available across the country at most authorised BMW and MINI dealerships, with a strategic infrastructure expansion plan in place for 2023.
The JomCharge mobile application is available on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store, you can also visit BMW Charging to learn more about this service.
