GE15 : Road Closure And Diversion Nationwide To make Way For Candidate Nomination
From today morning at 6am until the procedure is through, police will close a number of roads leading to nomination centres for the 15th General Election (GE15) across the nation.
Police will impose road closures in both directions along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (Jalan Ipoh) from the traffic light intersection of Jalan Perhentian to the traffic light intersection of the Sentul District Police Headquarters, according to Sentul District Police Chief ACP Beh Eng Lai.
The road closure also affects the stretch of Jalan Ampang-Lembah Jaya, which runs from the Kampung Melayu traffic light junction to the Bandar Baru Ampang traffic light intersection, according to ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak, the chief of the Ampang Jaya District Police.
"For the Jalan Ampang-Kuala Lumpur route, Jalan Chengal will be entirely closed, and the road that will be closed is from the Bandar Baru Ampang traffic light intersection to the Jalan Merdeka exit.
According to a statement he released today, light vehicles travelling in the direction of Kuala Lumpur will be detoured to Jalan Merbau, Jalan Pinang, and Jalan Ampang, while those travelling in the direction of Lembah Jaya will be detoured to Jalan Wawasan 4/2, Jalan Merdeka, Jalan Mewah, Jalan Cahaya 1, and Jalan Besar Cahaya.
The alternative route, according to Mohamad Farouk, will be closed in both directions of Jalan Pandan Ilmu-Jalan Bunga Raya, beginning from the intersection with Jalan Pandan Indah 3/3 and ending at the Jalan Bunga Raya traffic signal intersection. He declared that the exit junctions for Jalan Kencana 1, Jalan Pandan Indah 3/6, Jalan Pandan Indah 3/4, Jalan Pandan Indah 3/4d, and Jalan Pandan Indah 3/4e will be closed.
ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz, the Putrajaya District Police Chief, announced that several roads in Precinct 9 in Putrajaya too will be closed in sections beginning at 8 a.m. These roads include Jalan Precinct 9C, which will be closed from the Petronas traffic light 9D until the traffic light of Jalan P9C/1 (Phase 8) and Jalan Precinct P9A, which will be closed from Petronas P9A to Jalan Presint P9C, Jalan Presint 9F starting from Sekolah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Precinct 9 (1) or Health Clinic P9 to Jalan Presint P9C.
As for the Selangor state, several small roads near nomination centres in nine districts, including Petaling Jaya, Klang Utara, Shah Alam, Kajang, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Ampang Jaya, Sungai Buloh, and Sabak Bernam, will be closed and traffic will be diverted. SMK Sg Pusu Lorong, Jalan Persiaran 3, Bandar Baru Selayang, and Jalan 52/18-Texas to Restaurant Ajmeer in Gombak, and Jalan Yong Shook Lin, Jalan 52/18-Texas to Restaurant Ajmeer, and Jalan Lebuh Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya, according to Selangor Police Chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed.
Meanwhile in Negeri Sembilan, several major roads would be closed, including those in Seremban (Jalan Yam Tuan, Jalan Lee Fong Yee/Jalan Yam Tuan, and Jalan Kuil, Jempol); Lorong Bakti Lee Motor; Kuala Klawang Old Mosque; and Simpang Tiga Telecom.
While in Perak, the junction in front of the Public Works Department (JKR)/RISDA Perak Tengah office, the Perak Tengah Syariah Court, Kampung Gajah-Tanjung Tualang in front of the District Office, and one lane in Tanah Kecil Kampung Gajah are among the routes that will be closed, according to Perak Tengah District Police Chief Supt Barudin Wariso.
In Terengganu, the road from the Batu Buruk and Jalan Kamaruddin traffic signals to the Ladang Circle will be closed in both directions tomorrow from 7 am to 12 pm, according to Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief ACP Abdul Rahim Md Din.
Other than that, Jalan T/L Hipeng, which connects Air Putih, Jalan Padang, Simpang Gong Limau, KOPKEM-U roundabout, Jalan Dato, and Simpang Hospital to the Kemaman District Police Headquarters, would be gradually closed beginning at 6 am tomorrow, according to Kemaman District Police Chief Supt. Hanyan Ramlan.
