GE15; Voters Tested Positive For Covid-19 Not Allowed To Use Public Transportation
Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Malaysia's health director-general, has announced that those who are Covid-19 positive must wear face masks when voting in the 15th general election (GE15), which will take place this Saturday, November 19, 2022. Other voters are strongly encouraged to wear face masks, he said.
Voters who tested positive for Covid-19 are also barred from using public transportation, including e-hailing services, and must drive themselves to their polling places. "[Covid-19 positive voters] are not permitted to stay anywhere before or after voting and must return home immediately," said Noor Hisham in a statement.
All voters are also asked to use safe social distance and to use hand sanitizers offered at polling sites or to bring their own. Healthcare staff will be stationed at polling places to facilitate a smooth voting process for Covid-19 positive voters, and voters are advised to follow instructions.
