MIROS And CyberSecurity Malaysia launches CamScore dashcam rating scheme
MIROS (Malaysian Road Safety Research Institute) introduced a new dashcam rating scheme earlier today. Called the CamScore program, the initiative was devised in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia.
Effectively, the Dashcam Safety Score Card program introduced by MIROS aims to assist users in making wiser choices when considering a dashcam for their vehicles. Similar to crash-test score ratings, the products are given scores based on a five-star rating system, with five stars being its highest rating.
In this preliminary phase, CamScore ratings for in-car recorders or dashcams are based on three factors, those being the amount of basic features, the presence of advanced features, as well the addition of advanced driving assistance features (ADAS).
To date, the scheme has tested 40 dashcams products from various brands that’s currently available in the market. Included are the likes of 70mai, Thinkware, DDPAI, IROAD, AZDOME, and many others.
Presently, CamScore has awarded five models from the current market with a five-star rating:
1. 70mai A800S
2. 70mai Pro Plus+ A500S
3. Thinkware U1000
4. 70mai M500
5. DDPAI X5 Pro
Those aside, a further 19 dashcam products have been given three-star ratings, whilst a further 15 have garnered four-star ratings. Only one of the 40 dashcams was given a two-star rating, despite being only 0.04 points short of earning a three-star rating. You can see the full listing below:

Zulhaidi Mohd Jawi, Director of the Vehicle Safety and Biomechanics Research Center, said, CamScore is a continuation of various rating programs that have been developed by MIROS including vehicle evaluation. “This is a MIROS initiative to ensure that the guide to buying and owning a suitable dashboard camera (dashcam) can be used by users without hesitation,” he adds.
Meanwhile, CyberSecurity Malaysia CEO Datuk Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab emphasised that CyberSecurity Malaysia will continue dedicating itself towards providing Malaysians with the best possible protection.
“This strategic partnership with MIROS represents the current shift in the automobile sector, where digital data collection has taken a more prominent role than it did in the past”, he adds.
