smart #1 BRABUS PERFORMANCE DAY at Xiamen International Circuit
Spawning off the two decade long collaboration between the smart and Brabus masterpieces is the all new smart #1 Brabus which promises an exciting, high-performance, all-electric urban driving experience. Recently, the “smart DAY” was held at the Xiamen International Circuit in China to allow drivers to enjoy the all-electric smart track prowess.
According to Mandy Zhang, Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and After-Sales of smart Automobile Co., Ltd. said: "As one of the core elements rooted in our brand's DNA, 'avant-garde co-creation' is reflected not only in smart products and the lifestyles we advocate, but also integrated into our operating philosophy. Whether with the highly popular ‘smart times’, or today's smart PERFORMANCE DAY, we love to collaborate with customers to co-create and to see more friends join hands with smart, to design a smarter future together! "
Since its official debut at the 25th Chengdu Auto Show on August 26th of this year, the smart #1 BRABUS has been a winning sell-out model. To keep the buyer enthusiasm going, an official smart APP is made available to book test drives and get ahead of the buyers que.
The all-new smart #1 BRABUS is outfitted with a front and rear dual motors, capable of producing 422HP with a peak torque of 543Nm. All this was set loose at the 1.82-KM long Xiamen International Circuit.
The smart #1 Brabus has eight exclusive upgrades and enhancements to the chassis, whereby the diameter of the front brake disc has increased by 7.1% to 345mm and the thickness has increased by 7.1% to 30mm. Furthermore, the effective radius of the friction plate was also increased by 5.4% to 137mm and the front suspension spring stiffness has increased by 12%, up to 28N/mm. With the improved braking and suspension set-up, as well as the front and rear McPherson five-link independent suspension, stability and handling has been significantly improved. This results in a vehicle that is able to maintain a good posture, especially when cornering at high speeds and full braking, giving the driver confidence required.
To add-on, the smart #1 BRABUS’s intelligent four-wheel drive system would feature three configuration, ie. rear-wheel drive, part-time four-wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive. This is activated when you toggle between ECO/Comfort/Sport/BRABUS drive settings. The magic BRABUS mode is the one that unleashes its full potential to all four wheels.
Now as for the sound, yes it's all artificial unfortunately. Buyers can choose between the sounds of ORIGINAL previous generation petrol engine smart or the CLASSIC noise of a V6 petrol engine. This artificial noise is played out of a BEATs audio 13-speaker system.
During the track event, the all-new smart #1 Pro+ also completed several on-track challenges. The #1 Pro+ which is powered by a single rear drive motor, producing 268HP and 343 Nm torque, allowing for a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds.
