Three siblings were killed and another was injured after their car collided with a metal barrier at Km165 on the East Coast Expressway near here today.
Perodua Kancil driver Siti Fatimah Yusry, 20, and passengers Ahmad Basyir Yusry, 27, and Saiedah Yusry, 15, were killed in the 7 a.m. crash.
Their 11-year-old sister received brain injuries and is being hospitalised at Temerloh's Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HOSHAS).
According to Maran police commander Deputy Superintendent Norzamri Abd Rahman, the siblings were driving from Kuantan to Jerantut when Siti Fatimah lost control of the vehicle.
"The vehicle drifted to the left side of the road and collided with a metal divider." Three persons perished at the site, including the automobile driver, and their bodies were transferred to Jengka Hospital.
"The injured victim was transferred to HOSHAS and is being treated in the emergency department." "Initial investigations revealed that all of the victims were on their way from Johor Baru to a religious school in Jerantut," he said.
Norzamri urged anyone who observed the accident to come forward and help with the inquiry.
Meanwhile, Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operations) Ismail Abdul Ghani said that eight firemen from the Maran fire station were dispatched to the location and employed special rescue equipment to free the victims who were trapped in their seats.
