Volkswagen Touareg R Bids Farewell To The UK Market
Sales of the Volkswagen Touareg R have been discontinued in the United Kingdom, with only 18 months under its belt since it was first offered.
In the UK, only 2,260 units were sold in 2021, and as of October 2022, its sales figures have gone down by 50% from 2021 figures with only 1,081 units registered.
Notably, it is not in high demand among new car buyers in recent years, and according to Jato Analytics, Volkswagen only sold 13,191 units in Europe in 2021.
A high-powered SUV from Volkswagen, the Touareg R harbours a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) that produces up to 456 Hp.
Its standard guise on the other hand, comes with either a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine or a 3.0-litre V6 gasoline that produces up to 335 Hp.
That said, it went on sale in March 2021, with a price of GBP 71,995 (MYR 389,405), and is one of the German automaker’s most powerful models.
