Bugatti Teases A One-Off Model That Never Hit Production

Throughout its century-old history, Bugatti is well-known for its thoroughbred luxurious automobiles. However, the past two decades saw the French marque building some of the fastest production cars ever made in the form of the Bugatti Veyron and its successor, the Chiron.

With its production models already taking the breaths out of many people, one can only wonder how the axed Bugatti models would look or drive like, until now.

Bugatti appears to be teasing one such car, prior to its official unveiling later this month. Only showing a single image of said vehicle being draped in black curtain, the mystery car is a one-off Bugatti model that went into production.

Said teaser image was posted on Bugatti’s official Facebook page, with a caption that reads, "An automotive solitaire that never hit production."

In spite of being hidden under the cloth, the lone tease didn’t manage to hide the car’s C-shaped window arch, thanks to the visible crease on the curtain sheet. Also popped from the curtain is the car’s juxtaposed rear spoiler, as well as its relatively big rear wheel arch.

From these details, the hidden car appears to have quite similar design cues as the Bugatti Chiron, the marque’s current flagship hypercar. Also helps suggesting that this never-before-seen model is a special one-off variant of the Chiron is the addition of the hashtag #CHIRONProfilée on said Facebook post.

Thankfully, we won’t be waiting too long before seeing the curtain off from this special edition model, as Bugatti is poised to debut the car this Dec 21, alongside world-renowned car auction house, RM Sotheby’s. However, it is unclear whether RM Sotheby’s will have any direct involvement in auctioning this one-off model – another mystery yet to be solved.

Prior to this teaser, Bugatti and its EV-only sister brand Rimac has announced the development of an all-new hypercar, with the firm’s CEO, Matej Rimac saying that the new model will arrive with a “totally bonkers” ICE. Jointly-developed by both Bugatti and Rimac, this new hypercar will have no connections to the Chiron or the Rimac Nevera – the marque’s flagship EV hypercar.
