Renault Stand as The First Car Brand to Feature Waze

Renault, the famed French automaker has announced two of its vehicles will be having Waze as their new navigation system. With the new feature, it could get rid of the requirement for USB connections or smartphone connectivity while still allowing access to other vehicle features and audio while Waze is enabled.

Before we go further, the Waze app can be downloaded and installed via Google Play Store on the vehicle's OpenR Link multimedia system or from the My Renault mobile app. Also, users need to establish a Waze account or use an existing one for free.

Back to the story, Waze is accessible in models namely Renault Nouvel Austral and Megane E-Tech electric vehicles equipped with the OpenR screen and OpenR Link interface only in European countries.

Aside that, all of the standard Waze notifications, navigation, and routing options will be available inside these two EVs in Europe on specialised displays. The newly integrated Waze is now available as a standalone app in autos for the first time, thanks to Google's embedded Android Automotive OS which allows drivers to access real-time routing, navigation, and other functions without the need to connect a smartphone.

Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Waze, Aron DI CASTRO has highlighted that as more and more Waze users join us on in-car platforms and as this type of technology continues to evolve, it is important that Renault provide users with best driving experiences.

He added that the integration of Waze's real-time routes, navigation, and alerts into the screen of Renault's next generation vehicles offers a smoother and more streamlined driving experience.

The most recent multimedia system from Renault supports CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly and comes pre-installed with a number of apps, including Spotify and Google Maps, so users no need to connect their phone to use them.

Waze claims to be planning an expansion into other vehicles and brands, stating that it looks forward to bringing this amazing driving experience to more consumers across the world in 2023.
