This Bugatti Chiron Profilee is a One-off Hypercar That Never Hit Production

This is it. Following its brief teaser last week, Bugatti has finally peeled the curtains off this special, one-off model, dubbed as the Bugatti Chiron Profilee. Never to be seen daylight before nor hit the assembly line, this special edition Chiron is poised to be auctioned later in Feb 2023, and one can only guess how much it’ll fetch.

Initially, Bugatti had intended to produce the Profilee as a mid-spec Chiron, sitting below the more aggressive-looking Chiron Pur Sport. Development for this model began back in fall 2020, with its small-scale production poised to follow suit. But folks at Bugatti’s Molsheim plant already got their hands on deck building other models, which ultimately resulted in the Profilee to be an ultra-rare one-off model.

This toned-down Pur Sport still carries quite a stance, and is distinct enough to differentiate it from other bare-boned Chiron variants. Its ducktail rear wing not only functions as a showpiece, but also supplies ample downforce to the Profilee, while helping to evacuate hot air from the engine.

Aside from the wing, the Profilee also gets a bigger signature horseshoe grill at front that feeds more air into the radiators, while the redesigned front splitter ensures more slippery airflow, as well as providing extra downforce at the front axle. All in all, these aero bits help the Profilee to produce about 80% of the Pur Sport’s total downforce, in spite of missing a few radical aero parts like the bigger rear wing and more.

The tonning-down game goes on with the Profilee’s chassis redesign. Aimed to provide excellent grip performance without compromising its comfort, the dampers are 10% stiffer than the Sport variant, while its rear axle is tuned to have 50% more negative cambers. The front axle’s camber is also changed, plus harder springs with a front-heavy balance.

Mainly draped in Argent Atlantique (that’s Atlantic Silver for you anglophones) hue, the Chiron Profilee boasts a dual-tone finish where its lower body is painted in Bleu Royal Carbon tint. The addition of some exposed carbon fibre bits and polished aluminium accents complete the exterior touch-up.

Yet another unique feature of the Profilee is the magnesium wheels it rides on, finished in Le Patron hue that blends excellently well with the lower body.

Powering the Profilee is a massive 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 mill derived from the Pur Sport that outputs 1,479 HP and 1,600 NM. All that power helps to make the Chiron Profilee become one of the fastest-accelerating production cars ever, capable of despatching from nought to 100 KM/H in only 2.3 seconds. Flat out, the Profilee can do about 380 KM/H, faster than the Pur Sport’s 350 KM/H V-max.

Bugatti does not skimp in designing the Chiron Profilee’s exquisite cabin. First-time appearing in any of Chiron’s cabin is the woven leather finish that blends exceptionally well with both the carbon fibre weaves and plain blue leather finishes. The seats are finished in Gris Rafale and Deep Blue-hued two-tone leather upholstery. An anodised frame inlay showcasing the Profilee script is mounted on its centre console.

The Bugatti Chiron Profilee gains its nomenclature from an old Bugatti fastback car called the Type 46 Profilee, debuted way back in 1931. Fortunately for some, this one-off Chiron won’t be spending the rest of its lifetime trapped inside Bugatti’s warehouse, as RM Sotheby’s, UK’s premiere auction house, will put the Profilee on auction.

A special auction event organised by RM Sotheby’s will take place at the Louvre Art Gallery in Paris, France, where folks will stand a chance to bring the one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilee home, should the price be ‘right’.
