Bentley Achieves Record Sales Number for 2022, Selling Over 15K Units

Bentley has achieved a new sales record in 2022 by delivering 15,174 vehicles globally – a 4% increase from the previous year. The luxury marque’s best-selling model crown still goes to the Bentayga SUV, accounting for about 42% of Bentley’s total global sales.

Following closely behind the Bentayga is a pair of Bentley’s flagship gran tourer, namely the Continental GT and GT Convertible. Both models together contribute about 30% of its overall sales, with the performance-oriented GT Speed variants being the most popular options.

The rest of Bentley’s total sales figure came from its luxury saloon, the Flying Spur. The model’s new hybrid variant seems to be quite popular among the Brits, as it encompasses more than 60% of the Flying Spur’s total sales number in the UK alone – the highest percentage in any country.

However, its home market performance is still far off its adversaries across the pond, as the Americas were proven again to be Bentley’s most vital region. A total of 4,221 Bentley cars were sold in 2022, increased by less than one percent compared to last year’s figure. Trailing close behind the Americas are the Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau markets, with 4,033 cars accounting for about 25% of the brand’s total global sales.
The European market managed to slip into the third place by contributing about 19% of the brand’s total sales, followed by the Asia Pacific market at 1,651 units and Bentley’s home market, the UK, at only 1,328 units. Finally, the Middle East, Africa and South Asian markets all together accounted for just 6% by selling only 968 units.
Bentley chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark said this record–breaking feat really “underlines our brand strength, operational excellence, and strong global demand by market and model.”
Each of the said markets above saw its sales number increase, with the Asian Pacific region leading the way by rising over 23% compared to 2021, followed by the UK (12%), Europe (11%), China (9%), and the Middle East (6%).

Aside from the new hybrid models, other models from Bentley’s coach-building arm, the Mulliner, have also contributed to the new sales record feat. Previously, the Mulliner has rolled out the 500th vehicle of the year 2022, which signified a surge in demands for bespoke Bentley models across the globe.
Sales for the electrified models are projected to increase even more in 2023, in-line with Bentley’s Beyond100 plan to achieve full electrification by the end of the decade.
