BMW Group Malaysia Delivered 14,466 vehicles in 2022
During today’s launch of the facelifted BMW 3 Series, BMW Group Malaysia announced that it sold a total of 14,466 vehicles in 2022, marking a 35% increase from 2021.
Included said figure too were 1,233 MINI cars and 1,378 BMW Motorrad bikes.
The figures, according to MS and CEO Hans de Visser, have maintained BMW Group Malaysia's lead as Malaysia's top premium automotive company for a third consecutive year, with a market share of more than 50%.
The carmaker also saw a 38% increase in year-on-year sales, adding 11,855 units to the total. It also noted that more than 2,300 units of the 3 Series were delivered to customers in 2022, compared to more than 1,300 units of the 2 Series Gran Coupe.
Additionally, X3 sales accounted for about 1,300 of the over 5,100 units of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) in the X family that were sold last year.
A total of 1,233 units (up 26%) under the MINI brand were delivered last year, while 1,378 units (up 20%) were sold under the BMW Motorrad banner, with the GS Adventure series accounting for over 730 of those.
Notably, BMW Group Malaysia also saw over 4,600 fully-electrified vehicles sold under the BMW and MINI brands in 2022.
On the financial front, BMW Group Financial Services funded over 5,000 contracts in 2022 and saw a 100% increase in Easy Drive plan adoption.
Looking ahead, BMW Group Malaysia aims to broaden its product offering this year. The BMW i7 flagship EV saloon will be available in the second quarter (Q2), as will two more variants of the refreshed 3 Series by March.
The company also discussed its initiatives to increase the electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVs). For the record, there are currently over 610 EV charging stations across the nation, thanks to collaborations with JomCharge, ChargEV, Gentari, and other partners.
