Perodua Urges Switch to New Axia Bookings

Having now opened the order books for the new Axia D74A model, Perodua is set to see it make up for 25% of its forecasted 314,000 deliveries in 2023. This comes despite the fact that the carmaker still has a sizeable back-log of 220,000 cars to fulfil as of Jan 2023.

With roughly 15,000 of which being bookings placed prior to the SST exemption period expiring in the middle of last year, it seems Perodua may be in a bit of a pickle as these also include orders for the outgoing Axia model.

On that note, Perodua president and CEO has urged waiting customers who’ve placed bookings for the old Axia to convert their bookings for the new Axia instead. For this, the exec also confirmed several perks in store for those who do so.

For starters, Perodua will subsidise these customers’ SST costs. "All incentives if any (when bookings were implemented) will be maintained," added the exec as well during the Perodua 2023 Outlook press conference held in Kuala Lumpur, this morning.

However, take note that this offer only applies to old Axia buyers who had booked theirs before the SST period ended in June last year. Furthermore, Perodua also confirmed that production of the outgoing Axia model has ceased as of Jan 2023.

Furthermore, Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad emphasised that the new Axia's price has increased due to the vehicle's larger size and the addition of more sophisticated features compared to its predecessor.

As announced this morning, Perodua are now accepting bookings for the new Axia D74A at the tentative price ranging between RM38,600 and RM49,500.

Key highlighting features of this new Axia D74A model include the presence of up to 6 airbags including curtain airbags, all-LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights (DRL), interactive 7-inch TFT digital instrument panel plus a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment units offering high levels of interactivity, as well as keyless entry, amongst many others.
