Perodua Traz Secures 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Crash Test Score

The newly-launched Perodua Traz has secured a full five-star rating for the ASEAN NCAP crash test.
Fresh from making its long-awaited debut, the new Perodua Traz has secured a five-star rating for the ASEAN NCAP crash test protocol. Tested back in Nov this year, this new B-SUV has been awarded with an overall score of 86.65, thus putting it higher than its Toyota-badged twin, the DNGA-based Toyota Yaris Cross.

Breaking down the overall score, the Traz SUV has scored 30.86 out of the possible 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, with a weighted score of 38.57. ASEAN NCAP also noted that the B-SUV managed to provide adequate protection to both of the occupants’ chests, with the car’s frontal occupant compartment remaining stable during the frontal offset crash test.

Meanwhile, the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category is rated 43.89 points out of 51, or 17.21 in weighted score, although no points were given for the Child Detection sub-category, since the Traz didn’t come standard with the same Child Presence Detection (CPD) system found in the Perodua QV-E.

As for the Safety Assists category, the Traz scored 19.50 points out of 21 for Safety Assists, or 18.57 in weighted score, with ASEAN NCAP noting the presence of ADAS functions such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) being the key contributing factors in this category.

Last but not least, the Traz also scored 10 points out of 16 for the Motorcycle Safety category, or 12.50 in weighted score, which again is credited to some key ADAS functions like Blind Spot Detection, albeit featuring no advanced motorcyclist safety technologies on board.

And just like the Yaris Cross, the new Traz SUV was tested under ASEAN NCAP’s latest 2021-2025 assessment protocol, which puts extra emphasis and weightage on the active safety features on the car, which are highlighted in both the Safety Assists and Motorcycle Safety categories.
This also puts the B-SUV among the top Perodua models that secured a full five-star score for this new 2021-2025 ASEAN NCAP crash test, following in the footsteps of the DNGA-based Alza, Ativa, and the QV-E.
