The Touch 'n Go Group has entered into a strategic partnership with global digital payment titan Visa, through its e-wallet services provider TNG Digital Sdn Bhd - more popularly known as Touch 'n Go e-wallet - to launch the first corporate social responsibility-linked Visa prepaid card in Malaysia.
TNG Digital claims the card is the country's first numberless payment card, with stronger privacy features and enhanced card security controls, as well as acting as a complementary payment channel to the e-wallet, allowing users to make payments even at merchants who do not have a Duitnow QR code.
The company said in a statement yesterday that the new card also allowed users to make withdrawals at automated teller machines and make international online and offline payments.
TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni stated that the company anticipates strong demand for the new card, which will broaden the payment horizons of its e-wallet customers internationally. "Together with Visa, we have integrated innovation and advanced technology to deliver enterprise-grade security and features for this Visa card. "With all of the features built into this card, Touch 'n Go eWallet is now able to provide all of the services equivalent to an alternative bank to all e-wallet users for free," he explained. Meanwhile, Ng Kong Boon, Visa's country manager for Malaysia, said the digital payment company was excited to partner with Touch 'n Go e-wallet for the launch of this prepaid card.
He stated that the collaboration would allow cardholders to pay at Visa's global network of over 80 million merchants.
TNG Digital and Visa have also partnered with the non-governmental organisation (NGO) United Voice, the first NGO managed by people with learning disabilities. United Voice promotes self-advocacy in order to reduce isolation among people with learning disabilities, as well as to provide them with the tools, training, platforms, and experience they need to take control of their lives.
