Volvo Car Malaysia Recalls 545 Cars To Rectify Potential Braking Software Issue
Volvo Cars recently issued a global recall affecting the bulk of its current generation models – XC40, C40, XC60, S60, V60, XC90 and S90. Globally, this recall affects up to 106,691 cars, and this stems from a potential issue with software within the brake control module.
Locally, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has confirmed that this recall does affect a number of Malaysian owners, but just 545 cars in total to be exact. The firm has identified these affected cars and have already begun notifying owners to their respective service centres to have their brake control module software fixed.
Thankfully, VCM also confirmed that there were no cases of accidents and injuries stemming from these brake modules failing in the hands of Malaysian owners thus far. “Safety is a top priority for Volvo and we take this issue seriously. Volvo Car Malaysia will continue to ensure that the cars are returned for safer and better driving,” said the firm in a statement when CariCarz.com reached out for confirmation.
According to VCM, this potentially faulty brake control module software can cause owners to experience a stiff brake pedal and the loss of electronic braking support functions, although rest assured that braking capabilities will remain via the brake pedal. The driver will be warned of the issue occurring via the digital instrument panel.
“As a precaution, the cars affected will be recalled to our service centres to rectify the issue and prevent further inconveniences for our customers,” adds VCM further regarding the matter.
