MoF To Discuss Johor’s Request For Six-Lane Highway Upgrade With PLUS
This week, the Finance Ministry will meet with PLUS Malaysia Bhd to discuss Johor's request to expand the North-South Expressway route from Yong Peng to Skudai from four to six lanes.
According to Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, the Johor government made the request before the 14th general election to reduce traffic congestion on the affected route.
"There are already six lanes connecting Melaka to Seremban, and eight lanes connecting Seremban to Kuala Lumpur. "However, even though Johor contributes significantly to the nation's wealth and income, there are only four lanes in Johor," he said.
The federal government, according to Ahmad, will also look into the state's health needs, such as hospitals, flood problems, and schools in need of repair.
The Pontian MP stated that the next budget dialogue session will be held in Perak, with this Friday set as the deadline for the ministry to receive budget proposals for 2023.
In response to the reduction in MP allocation, he stated that a retreat for the 148 government MPs will be held on February 12 in Putrajaya to discuss the issue.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and State Secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani were also present at the dialogue.
