PLUS & DUKE Support Peak Hour Ban on Heavy Vehicles

Both the DUKE and PLUS highway concessionaires have expressed support for the peak hour ban on heavy vehicles.
Both PLUS and the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) highway concessionaires have expressed their support for the proposed ban on heavy vehicles to and from Kuala Lumpur during peak hours.
According to the company’s official statement, “PLUS supports the government’s initiative to implement the expansion of this ban. The move is a progressive step towards raising safety levels, helping reduce traffic congestion, and smoothing traffic flow in Klang Valley and KL city, especially during peak hours on workdays.”
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng, managing director of Konsortium Lebuhraya Utara-Timur (KL) Sdn Bhd (Kesturi), told New Straits Times, "Kesturi welcomes the announcement by the Malaysian Highways Authority (MHA) to expand the implementation of the ban on the movement of heavy vehicles entering the highway during peak hours on several selected highways around the Klang Valley.”

For PLUS, the proposed ban will involve both the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and the ELITE highways, where it starts from KM 16.2 of the ELITE near the Bandar Saujana Putra toll plaza to KM 456.0 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) near the Sungai Buloh toll plaza.

Notably, this stretch also covers the entirety of the DUKE highway, where it continues from PLUS’ Bukit Lanjan Intersection (KM 459.3) to the Jalan Duta exit. Starting from Feb 19 onwards, heavy vehicles are banned from entering these stretches of highways, starting from 6.30 AM to 9.30 AM, and 4.30 PM to 7.30 PM on every Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
To go along with this new ban, PLUS has erected signage at strategic locations to provide clear guidance to heavy vehicle drivers.
