mySIKAP Database Integrated With Other Agencies Since 2007 - RTD
According to JPJ Director-General Datuk Zailani Hashim, the Road Transport Department's (JPJ) mySIKAP system database has been merged with those of other authorities since 2007.
He said in a statement that organisations like the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and local authorities were involved in the mySIKAP database integration process (PBT).
In a statement on February 11, Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Mat Kasim Karim welcomed the Pioneer Project for the Malaysian Digital Driving License (e-LMM) and JPJ Motor Vehicle Digital Licence (e-LKM), which had been announced by the Transport Minister the day before.
“JSPT via the Mobile Computerised On-Line Payment System (MCOPS) can also conduct integrated checks with JPJ’s mySIKAP system or QR code display to verify vehicle registration and identity card numbers,” Zailani said.
This was his response to the yesterday media statement "All Quarters Must Be Together on Digital Road Tax, Driving Licence" made by former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
The JPJ digitalization initiative, which has done away with the display of physical road tax and instead allows drivers to just show the digital document using the internally developed MyJPJ application, according to Musa, should be thoroughly studied by the Transport Ministry. Musa also questioned how, in the absence of access to JPJ's digital licence database, agencies other than JPJ could enforce traffic laws.
As a pioneering project, the digitalization initiative, according to Zailani, would undergo ongoing improvements to ensure its efficacy and the welfare of the nation and its citizens.
