2023 Toyota Yaris Facelift Launched in Thailand with New Bodykit & Aggressive Look
Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT) has recently launched the facelifted version of the Toyota Yaris hatchback, featuring an updated bodykit and more aggressive look. While its saloon twin – the Yaris Ativ AC100 – has undergone an all-new generation transformation, TMT has only granted the Yaris hatch with minor cosmetic updates.
The facelifted treatment sees the fourth-gen Yaris donning a new front look, but still retains the overall hammerhead-like theme to it. The front fascia now features a pair of new LED headlights with C-shaped design and sharp ends, as well as a smaller front grille insert that is splitted into two by the Toyota emblem at the centre.
The new front bumper comes with more sharp angles and lines, with a bigger and wider lower apron featuring both functional and faux intakes – all finished in darker shade.
At the rear, Toyota has carried over the taillights from the pre-facelifted Yaris, while its bumper has been redesigned with additional faux outlets and sharp details to match the front. There’s also a faux diffuser finished in carbon weave material, while the rear reflectors are being wrapped by a black trim.
Topping off the exterior update is the 15-inch wheels with new 6-spoke design – finished in silver and black dual tone.
The interior, however, remains pretty much the same as the model it replaces. Crowned above the central console is the infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, measured at 9-inches for the top-specced Premium and Premium S variants, while the lower two trim levels will get either the eight or seven-inch respectively.
Aside from that, the cabin is also equipped with a slew of equipment options, such as the newly-designed seats with both leather and fabric upholstery options, four or six speaker options, 4.2-inch Optitron driver’s display, as well as a panoramic view monitor.
In terms of safety equipment, the top-two variants will get a few advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features like the Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) and a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM). All models however, will come to boot with standard safety equipment like the ABS, EBD with brake assist, as well as VSC and traction control.
The facelifted Yaris still harnesses the same 1.2-litre 4-cyl 3NR-FKE mill rated at 90 HP and 109 NM. This powertrain is mated to a Super CVT-i gearbox that sends power to its front wheels.
Coming in four colours with dual-tone options each, the 2023 facelifted Toyota Yaris price starts as THB559,000 (RM71,946) for the baseline Sport model, while the mid-range Sport variant commands a higher price tag of THB619,000 (RM79,668). On the other hand, the ADAS-equipped top-two variants, the Premium and Premium S, are priced at THB679,000 (RM87,390) and THB694,000 (RM89,321) respectively.
Above all, this revelation indicated that the next-gen Yaris, possibly underpinning the same DNGA platform as the new Vios/Yaris Ativ, might not be launched sooner than we think. For our local market, UMW Toyota Motor currently offers the fourth-gen Yaris hatch for sale, with price beginning at RM73,800 onwards. The next-gen Toyota Vios, on the other hand, is poised to be launched soon into our market.
