MBPJ Enforce Two-Hour Parking Limit Zones In Section 52

It appears that Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has instituted a two-hour parking limit in Section 52's commercial district that aims to provide more parking spaces available for visitors.
This aligns with a similar movement by Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) to offer parking restriction zone in six main roads including Jalan USJ 10, Jalan SS12, Jalan SS15, Jalan USJ 21, Jalan Bandar Puteri, and Jalan Kenari last year.

According to Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir, he stated that he rarely saw any available parking space in Section 52 whenever he was near said area.
The mayor further said, “It is fully occupied most of the time by those who work here. This might deter others from visiting restaurants’’
‘’I want this area to be more accessible to the public, and for businesses to benefit from the two-hour parking limit,’’ the mayor added during the launch of the newly implemented parking system in Section 52, which is also known as PJ State or PJ New Town.

Following that, payment of parking fees for the two-hour parking bays can be executed via the Smart Selangor and Flexi Parking apps. According to the local authority, it further explained orange parking is for the two-hour zone, whereas normal parking is coloured yellow.
Reputable source online also indicated that along Jalan 52/2 and Jalan 52/4, 50 parking bays have been booked hence motorists who are planning to park for longer periods should park at Kompleks A, which parking space offers 422 bays.

On the other hand, there’s also Kompleks C with 398 bays that are located near the Sultan roundabout junction. The PJ mayor entails in his further statement saying that MBPJ would extend the two-hour parking limit to the Section 14 and SS21 Damansara Utama commercial areas by end of this May.
Aptly, MBPJ managed to collect RM15.4 million in parking revenue last year which was recorded as the highest amount among local councils in the Selangor region. Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran welcomed the move and said MBPJ should consider adding more two-hour parking bays.
“We welcome public feedback on this implementation. I feel it should be introduced in Petaling Jaya Old Town and Section 17 too” he added.
