New Concessionaire Set to Manage Parking Collection in Selangor from Aug 1

From Aug 1 onwards, a new concessionaire will manage the parking fee collection for MBPJ, MBSJ, MBSA, and MPS.
The Selangor state government has just appointed a new concessionaire, Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd, to manage parking fee collection in four of its local councilors (PBTs) from Aug 1, 2025, onwards. According to Bernama, those four PBTs are the Petaling Jaya city council (MBPJ), Subang Jaya city council (MBSJ), Shah Alam city council (MBSA), and Selayang municipal council (MPS).
According to Selangor local government and tourism EXCO Datuk Ng Suee Lim, the appointment of the new concessionaire is part of the state government’s efforts to boost parking revenue, which currently has a collection rate of only 30% from 1,000 designated bays.

“The concessionaire will handle both fee collection and enforcement, under close supervision from the councils and the state government.
“We target a collection rate of over 60% and hope to reduce double parking in busy areas,” he told Bernama during a press conference at the Selangor state assembly sitting earlier today.

The EXCO further added that revenues from the parking fee collection will be split equally, with the concessionaire receiving 50%, while the remaining 50% will go to the state—40% to the local councils and 10% to MBI Selangor.
While a new concessionaire has been appointed, Ng assured that the new system will not lead to an increase in parking rates, which will remain between 40 and 60 sen per hour.
He also denied claims of a closed tender process when picking this new concessionaire, stressing that a total of 26 companies had responded to a Request for Proposal (RFP) before three were shortlisted.
“The final company was selected based on strict performance conditions. If targets are not met, the 10-year contract can be terminated at any time,” Ng insisted.
