It looks like the Touch ‘n Go e-Wallet app by Touch ‘n Go Digital (TNGD) has received several more new updates this month. Leading the recent revision is a new Scan QR feature for cashless parking payments.
This allows users to skip the long queue at the autopay kiosk and perform cashless parking payments by simply scanning the app-generated QR code instead. Of course, this new feature will still require you to ensure you have enough credit balance to enable it, but the next fact might be welcoming indeed.
Given that cellular and mobile data reception in most parking lots can be rather spotty, TNG has ensured that this new QR code-based cashless parking payment method can still be used without internet or mobile data connectivity.
In fact, this new feature is still able to generate a scannable QR code for this purpose sans mobile or data connection. From there, users need only to tap on the ‘Pay’ button to get on the scanning process at entry or exit points when choosing cashless payment method via the eWallet.
Additionally, should the scenario of users dealing with a disabled smartphone (damage or dead batteries) before exiting the parking lot, users can contact the respective car park management as they will issue a physical parking ticket instead. This, in turn, will allow users to perform manual payments instead. For this, users only need to provide their contact number registered to their TNG eWallet account.
As for availability of this payment scheme, TNG has stated via its online FAQs page that the new QR code scanning for parking payments is now accepted at almost 60 sites. Consisting of shopping malls, hotels, and LRT stations, the list is set to grow further over time too.
