Tokyo Auto Salon KL 2023 Revs Up, Take Place At MITEC From June 9 to 11

One of the car world’s biggest aftermarket and performance tuning car exhibitions is set to take place in Malaysia for the first time this year. Announced this week, the Tokyo Auto Salon KL 2023 exhibition is set to welcome passionate local enthusiasts when it opens its doors from June 9 to June 11 at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur.
The show is a satellite event modelled after – and officially endorsed by – the world’s foremost renowned custom and performance car show in Japan. It is set to cover a total floor space of 130,000 square feet and draw up to 150,000 visitors from within Malaysian and the ASEAN region.

Jointly-organising the show are MUSE Group Asia and Element X Strategies, together with San Ei Corporation – intellectual property owners of the Tokyo Auto Salon. Present during the event’s official launch announcement and press conference held this week were Junichi Fukui, the Director-General of the Tokyo Auto Salon Federation, as well as Riduwan Matni, CEO of Muse Group Asia.
“Since Muse Group Asia organised the very first ever Tokyo Auto Salon outside of Japan in Singapore in 2013, our intent has always been to bring this prestigious event to Malaysia. And after 3 years of planning, we are glad to announce the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur for 2023 is now just months away,” said Riduwan during the launch held at MITEC this week.

“The Kuala Lumpur show will bring a more international flair with the display of locally-modified vehicles and exhibits featuring Malaysian and ASEAN engineered accessories and performance parts as well as services. The show’s greater objective is to create a vibrant and viable platform for our members and potential regional manufacturers to engage in business,” adds Fukui-San.
Given that the Malaysian automotive aftermarket segment is valued at over US$6 billion (RM26.78 billion) annually, Riduwan and Muse Group Asia expressed their confidence that the robust interest of enthusiasts and brands alike will welcome the renowned exhibition’s arrival in Malaysia. The exec also expressed his hopes of the exhibition re-energising the local aftermarket industry in this post-pandemic era.

“We look forward to hosting a show every bit worthy of the Tokyo Auto Salon prestige,” said Riduwan further before revealing some of big names highlighting the show. Amongst them are renowned Japanese Tier-1 tuner brands such as HKS, Greddy, Top Secret, as well as renowned Honda tuning gurus Spoon Sports.
With that, the show is also promising a fleet of specially built and highly-tuned show cars on display for visitors to marvel at, many of which being specially imported from Japan as well. Vehicles aside, the Tokyo Auto Salon KL 2023 exhibition will also host a beautiful line-up of race queens from Japan.

Other highlights noted by organisers include a number of performances and workshops curated for the show. On top of which, early bird ticket buyers will also be treated with a special lucky draw where two winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to the Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan in 2024.
Tickets are priced at RM60 and RM28 per day for adults and children respectively. However, during the early bird ticket sales period, which lasts from March 18 to March 30, tickets will be available at 30% off, costing just RM40 and RM18 per day for adults and children respectively. Tickets can be purchased online until the day of show via its dedicated website, www.tokyoautosalonkl.com.
