Volvo XC90 Bags 2023 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award
The Volvo XC90 has bagged the 2023 IIHSTop Safety Pick+ award from the US-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This latest accolade comes following the institute instilling stricter requirements for said award category.
The new stricter criteria sees each vehicle tested requiring improved side impact protection, requiring 82% more energy here. This, in turn, enhances the pedestrian collision prevention system and also sees the removal of substandard headlights from the selection of eligible vehicles.
The Volvo XC90 in both its B5 Ultimate Mild Hybrid (MHEV) and Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) forms have excelled in the institute’s updated testing procedures. “The Volvo XC90 continues to prove, year after year, that it is among the safest vehicles on the road,” said Åsa Haglund, head of the Volvo Cars Safety Centre.
To commemorate this, the brand’s local arm - Volvo Cars Malaysia (VCM) - have set out a new promotion for the model throughout this month. Bookings for the XC90 in either B5 Ultimate or Recharge T8 variants made anytime between March 1 to 31, 2023 will see the VSA5+ package included for free.
Known also as the 'Volvo Service Agreement 5 Plus', VSA5+ is a 5-year comprehensive car service package that covers the first five preliminary car services - replacement of wear and tear items included.
Besides the XC90 range, this limited-time offer is also extended to bookings of the S60 and S90 saloons, V60 estate, as well as the XC40 B5 and XC60 crossover SUVs placed within the same period - March 1 to 31, 2023.
As for the all-electric XC40 Recharge, VCM will offer a free charging wallbox voucher worth RM7,000 instead for said model’s bookings placed between March 1 to 31, 2023.
More details regarding this VSA5+-inclusive offer are available at any authorised Volvo Cars showrooms (latest Sime Darby-owned Volvo Setia Alam 3S Centre included), as well as online via VCM’s official website.
