BYD's 1100HP Yangwang U9 Gets Design Update - Shanghai Auto Show Launch

Following the unveiling of the Yangwang luxury SUV the U8 and a supercar the U9 back in January, Yangwang has finally announced the supercars launch this coming 18 April during the Shanghai Auto Show.
The Yangwang U9 would be a pure electric supercar from the luxury brand which is under the BYD group. According to BYD, the Yangwang brand would adopt a more upmarket design language being, “Gate of Time and Space”.

Yangwang according to CarNewsChina had recently released updated images of the U9 supercar which seems to be further updated from the leaked images back in January.
Most notably would surely be the colour indicating other options would be made available other than striking yellow. Besides that, some bodywork changes can also be seen especially with the presence of a “hugh” rear electric spoiler which would for sure help in high speed stability and aerodynamics. Also the side skirts have also been extended out further.

The front headlight design has also been tweaked slightly to feature a continuous line design rather than the initial dot-matrix format. At the rear end, the design seems to be similar to the initial reveal with the addition of the tall spoilers.
The Yangwang U9 would be built on BYD’s latest “Yisifang” platform and feature four electric motors. Each electric motor is capable of producing a maximum of 275 HP and 320 Nm Torque. For the U9, Yangwang claims a power output of 1100 HP and 1280 Nm of torque. These figures are almost similar to GAC’s AION Hyper SSR claims of 1200 HP.

In comparison, the Yangwang U9 is claimed to have a 0-100 acceleration time of flat 2-sec while the AION Hyper SSR claims 1.9-sec. These are numbers in the Hyper-car realm but hey what do you expect when all you have is abundance of instant torque.
The Yangwang U9 would run on BYD’s proprietary LFP Blade Battery pack at a minimum of 100 kWh and have a claimed CLTC driving range of about 700 KM. The U9 would retail for about USD150,000 (RM660,000) in China and should there be no tax it would surely outsell any other supercars even here in Malaysia.
