Rapid Bus is providing an intermediate bus service for the T789 route (LRT Universiti - Universiti Malaya via Hillpark Beach) as a Proof of Concept (POC) on-demand initiative to solve the growing first and last mile issue.

This project is a collaboration between Rapid Bus and Asia Mobiliti Technologies Sdn Bhd, the proprietors of Trek Rides, a local e-hailing service booking application in the Klang Valley. It will begin on May 15, 2023 and will end on August 14, 2023. The service would be available from 6.30 a.m. until 11.30 p.m.

According to Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Bus, "The implementation of this POC is to optimise the resources we have in providing the best bus service. For example, the POC for the T757 route (LRT Alam Megah – Shah Alam) which was launched earlier, proved to be successful and was well received by passengers. Now, we have replaced the use of a bus with a van for this route.”

He further stated that the bus/van deployed can be rerouted on demand to service different routes if necessary.

Because all bookings would be made through the Trek Rides app, the T789 route intermediate service would ensure all passengers a seat. This service has a fixed charge of RM1.00. Passengers could use their My50 Unlimited Travel Pass, Touch n' Go Card, MyRapid Concession Card, Group Pass, or MyCity Pass to pay for their Trek Rides app booking.

Rapid Bus T789 service to be fulfilled via the Trek Rides e-hailing app

Ramachandran Muniandy, Founder and CEO of Asia Mobility, also stated that they are excited to collaborate with Rapid Bus to bring this service to Rapid KL customers. He also stated that their mission is to provide dependable facilities and services to suit the requirements and desires of the inhabitants of the city.

This service intends to fulfil any passenger short-distance rides, allowing customers to plan their journey more efficiently by allowing them to choose the booking time more simply.
