Prasarana Moved 1.54 Million People on New Year’s Eve

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad recorded its strongest operational performance on the New Year’s Eve (Dec 31, 2025) earlier this week. More than 1.54 million passenger journeys across rail and bus services during which, marking a 0.76% increase year-on-year and the highest single-day ridership in the group’s history.
The milestone was driven primarily by rail services, which carried approximately 1.29 million passengers, while bus services, including Rapid On-Demand (ROD), recorded a combined total of 251,737 passenger trips.
Group President and CEO Amir Hamdan said the smooth handling of the year-end surge reflected strong coordination and crowd management by nearly 3,000 Rapid KL frontline staff deployed across the Klang Valley, ensuring safe, orderly and comfortable journeys throughout the night.

Rail services saw particularly strong demand on key urban corridors. The Kajang Line recorded the highest ridership with 396,141 passengers, followed by the Kelana Jaya Line with 321,381 passengers. The Ampang/Sri Petaling Line carried 246,885 passengers, while the Putrajaya Line recorded 234,158 passenger trips.
Monorail registered 90,748 passengers during the same period.
Bus and on-demand services also played a supporting role in easing citywide movement. Rapid KL buses carried 183,944 passengers, Rapid Penang recorded 48,002 passengers, while the BRT Sunway line served 19,791 passengers.

According to Prasarana, the successful execution of large-scale operations under peak conditions underscores the organisation’s operational readiness and the professionalism of its workforce in managing complex urban mobility challenges.
Prasarana also expressed appreciation to all security agencies and strategic partners for their cooperation, while thanking city residents and tourists in the Klang Valley and Penang for choosing public transport, contributing to smoother mobility and supporting broader sustainable city objectives.
