First Look: Neta S EV Sports Saloon On Display In Malaysia
By chance, we caught sight of the Neta S EV sports saloon on display in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
It looks like Intro Synergy, the GoAuto Group subsidiary charged as the custodians of burgeoning new EV brand Neta, is keeping true to its promise of having more Neta-branded EV models brought into Malaysia. On display at the firms first Neta showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam earlier today was this – the sleek and sporty Neta S.
Our colleague spotted the Neta S on display by chance whilst visiting the area. If you could forgive the quality of the photos snapped and featured here, there’s indeed much to gauge from this display unit that Intro Synergy currently has in its care, which is a left-hand drive (LHD) unit – presumably from China.
Top-level management from Intro Synergy during the Neta V preview at the
Malaysia Autoshow 2023.
As stated by Intro Synergy during the Neta V’s preview at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 last month, the Neta S EV sports saloon is poised to officially make landfall by the first quarter of 2025. Aptly, the Neta S is positioned as a more affordable alternative against the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT, and perhaps the Mercedes-Benz EQE too.
By the way, the striking yet very sleek design of this sports saloon isn’t just for show either as Hozon Auto – Neta’s parent company – claims the Neta S boasts an ultra-low drag coefficiency figure of just 0.216. This is perhaps crucial towards providing the Neta S with respectable range figures – more on that in a bit.
Whilst on the exterior still, it’s worth noting key touches present such as the array of all-LED lighting front and aft, the striking 19-inch alloy wheels design, not forgetting a pair of Lamborghini-esque scissor front doors. Clearly, the Neta S was styled to impress, and it certainly does.
On board, the cabin sees itself laced with plenty of plush leather and suede upholstery, along with an assortment of premium-looking metal brightworks plus a faux-carbon dash inserts. However, what really takes the cake here is the level of tech incorporated to make it a technological tour-de-force of sorts, with much of which co-developed by Neta and leading tech giant Huawei.
While the front doors feature Lamborghini-esque scissor opening, the rear doors open conventionally instead.
On board, the Neta S looks and feels both plush and high-tech.
There’s plenty to note, but we’ll be brief and point out key highlights such as the presence of augmented reality (AR) display tech, 21-speaker premium hi-fi audio suite, plus an array of display screens promising vividly high resolutions. Also, the rear seats feature multi-direction power-adjustability, thus bolstering luxury levels further too.
Besides that, the Neta S also features what its makers call the Neta Pilot suite. Essentially, this is the Neta brand’s array of assisted driving assist tech that promises near-autonomous driving abilities for both highway and city driving.
Here's a look at the Neta S' rear quarter, which sports a full-width LED taillight cluster.
As for the powertrain, there are several specifications available, but we’ll be brief and note that both single- or dual-motor choices are available, with the latter effectively enabling all-wheel-drive (AWD) too. Depending on which powertrain in primed, outputs range anywhere between 227 HP and 455 HP.
Juicing said motor(s) is a range of floor-mounted batteries that range between 43.51 kWh and 91 kWh, the latter largest-sized capacity enabled by Neta’s adoption of ternary lithium-ion type cells. And it appears both AC and DC charging inputs are accepted, but charge input ratings and timing remains unclear for now.
Speedy looks are matched by rapid claimed performance too, with Neta claiming 0-100 KM/H sprints despatched in under 4 seconds!
Nevertheless, at least this setup grants the Neta S with some serious speeds to match its seriously sporty looks, with overseas reports noting 0-100 KM/H despatched in less than 4 seconds. As for range, it varies between 520 KM to 1,100 KM (both NEDC), depending on which powertrain is primed.
If all this sounds good to you, then you’ll be glad to know that importers and distributors Intro Synergy have hinted that the Neta S might go on sale with a sub-RM300,000 price figure too. No after sales details were disclosed, but we’re certain there will be a similarly justifiable terms as how we saw offered on the more affordable Neta V urban city hatch.
L-R: Neta V and Neta U.
So, what do you folks think of the Neta S then? Would you rather have this over the budget-friendly Neta V instead? Or would settle for a middle ground of sorts with the Neta U crossover SUV instead? Hit the comments below with your thoughts!
