Limited-Edition Volkswagen Golf R 333 Debuts with Only 333 Units Available
Volkswagen Golf R 333
Following its teaser last month, Volkswagen has finally debuted the Volkswagen Golf R 333 hot hatch. This limited-edition model is only available in 333 units, making its debut in Germany exactly at 3.33 PM local time.
Sticking to the 333 theme, this special R model is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged TSI mill that outputs, you guessed it, 333 PS (329 HP) and 420 NM. Just like the previous limited edition Golf R “20 Years”, said engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that propels all its four wheels (AWD) from nought to 100 KM/H in just 4.6 seconds.
Flat out, the Golf R 333 is capable of reaching a V-max of 270 KM/H, thus matching the Golf R Performance to be the most potent Golf ever made.
Special to the R 333 model is the Lime Yellow Metallic body colour that contrasts with a slew of blacked-out body parts and trims. Said black parts include the roof, side mirror caps, roof-mounted rear wing, R badge at the front fenders, front grille and lip, rear diffuser, as well as the “333” graphics that sit above the side skirts.
The Akrapovic quad titanium tailpipes will surely provide extra pops and crackles to the R 333
Based on the range-topping Golf R Performance, top-notch equipment like the matrix LED headlights and LED taillights all come standard with the R 333. However, special to the R 333 model are the Akrapovic quad exhaust system with titanium mufflers, plus the black-hued 19-inch Estoril wheels wrapped in semi-slick tyres, with massive blue-hued brake callipers hiding behind them.
On board, the R 333 model gets a special plaque on the carbon weave front dash that denotes the specific unit number of the car. Both the sporty R steering wheel and R sport seats are wrapped in posh Nappa leather upholstery with striking blue stitching laced around them.
While the front dash is imbued with carbon fibre-like material, the central console only gets gloss black veneer. Topping-off the cabin amenities list is the 480-watt Harman Kardon premium audio system.
Safety features are also not too shabby in the R 333, as it is primed with ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop-and-Go function, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Travel Assist, as well as a rear-view camera system.
Will this Golf R 333 be the final ICE-powered Golf model ever?
With only 333 units available, the limited-edition Volkswagen Golf R 333 is only available for purchase in Germany, with its price starting at €76,410 (RM376,322). This puts the R 333 almost €20,000 more expensive than the Golf R Performance it is based on, which only clocks in at €57,985 (RM285,542).
But, however expensive it is, we are certain that all 333 units will be spoken for in no time. More so after considering the fact that this might be the last ICE-powered Golf model ever, as the firm plans to fully-electrify the Golf lineup for the Mk9 generation.
