Tengku Zafrul Chairs National Electric Vehicle Steering Committee First Sitting

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), chaired the first ever "National Electric Vehicle Steering Committee" (NEVSC) meeting (No. 1/2023) recently after announcing the committees formation to members of the press during the PLUS, YINSON MoU signing ceremony.
Other ministerial department heads in attendance included YB Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport (MOT), and YB Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), as well as Deputy Ministers, Chief Secretaries, senior ministry directors, and agency leaders.

The NEVSC is prepared to play a critical role in managing the government's current electric vehicle (EV) programmes and policy. It strives to create a strong collaborative synergy in order to successfully undertake initiatives that go beyond the scope and jurisdiction of each ministry.
Tengku Zafrul stated on social media that he is confident that the conference will propel the development of Malaysia's electric vehicle industry as the country works to fulfil its carbon neutrality goals. To realise that full involvement from the decision makers themselves are necessary hence eliminating time wastage in red-tape bureaucracy.

Now, we at CariCarz.com feel that the NEVSC will be critical in assisting the country's transition to Next Generation Vehicles (NxGV) and Electric and Electronic Vehicles (EEV) infrastructure. This is owing to the incredibly delayed transition and adoption rate induced by a variety of issues such as incentives, charging facilities, and dependable energy supply.
Let us hope that the NEVSC will finally be the missing component in pushing EV adoption and infrastructure development in Malaysia forward.
