The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. recently launched the Chery Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme.
Through this banner, the automaker is bringing together 12 top suppliers from Chery Technology in China and 23 Malaysian suppliers, setting the stage for new partnerships and collaboration.
The event was held recently at MIDA’s headquarters, with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii).
Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of MIDA, said the programme supports Malaysia’s National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2020. He highlighted the goal of building stronger connections between Malaysian vendors and Chery, aiming to boost innovation, local vendor development and the adoption of advanced technologies like Industry 4.0.

Meanwhile, Leo Chen, Executive VP of Chery Corporate Malaysia, said the collaboration shows Chery’s strong commitment to localising its operations and growing Malaysia’s automotive supply chain.
Leo went on to add that by working closely with Malaysian suppliers, Chery hopes to build a sustainable and future-ready automotive ecosystem that benefits both countries.
One of the key moments of the event was Chery’s presentation of its upcoming RM2.2 Billion Smart Auto Industrial Park, planned for the Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley. This facility is expected to become a major hub for Chery’s regional manufacturing operations and marks a significant investment in Malaysia’s automotive sector.

During the event four more important Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were inked between Chinese and Malaysian companies - Wuhu Atech Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd and Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd., Cheling Smart Mobility Technology (Wuhu) Co., Ltd and Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd., Zhejiang Wanliyang Co., Ltd and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and Wuhu Qida Power Battery Systems Co., Ltd and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
These agreements cover cooperation in automotive components, technology sharing, and joint investments, further strengthening Malaysia’s role in the global automotive supply chain.
This new supply chain initiative also supports the growing focus on electric vehicles and smart mobility, helping to position Malaysia as a leader in the next-gen automotive innovation.
